Company DescriptionEnsuring the effective management of sponsorship and internal grant programs, developing internal grant programs, also assisting in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for the University's scientific and scientific-technical activities, as well as supporting the activities of the Research Council in line with the University's scientific strategy and priorities.Job DescriptionDevelopment of proposals and updating of the Scientific Research Strategy (task): Providing methodological and organizational support to research projects to ensure that they are in line with the University's research policy.Functions:
  • Participates in the development and updating of the University's Research Strategy, ensuring alignment with research priorities.
  • Collects and analyses information on research activities of private institutions and research centers of the University to assess their contribution to the implementation of the University's research strategy.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of research programs defined in the University's Research Policy.
Development of internal research grant programs (task): To provide support for participation in the University's research programs focused on priority research areas.Functions:
  • Develops framework internal research programs as priority funding mechanisms for the University.
  • Develops the terms, objectives and selection criteria for research projects/programs funded through internal grants.
  • Organizes competitions for grants and other forms of research support.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of competitions and feedback to prepare information for the University's Scientific Council.
  • Ensures equal opportunities for participation in the University's grant programs.
Supporting and coordinating the activities of the Scientific Council (task): To ensure the effective operation of the University's Research Council to realize its objectives and strategic goals.Functions:
  • Manages the administrative and operational activities of the University Research Council.
  • Coordinates meetings, policy discussions and decision-making processes within the Research Council.
  • Provides support to the Research Council in matters within its remit.
  • Coordinates and organizes the activities of the Research Council to improve efficiency and transparency.
  • Provides support to the faculty in working with the Research Council, including the preparation of documents for state and departmental academic titles, honors, and awards.
Ensuring compliance with strategy and policies (task): To assist in the risk-based implementation of the academic strategy and policies of the University and its organizations.Functions:
  • Monitors the implementation of the Research Strategy and Policies of the University and its organizations.
  • Participates in the processes of identification, assessment, management and monitoring of risks within the supervised area.
  • Participates in the drafting of the Research University Development Program and its approval and reports on the implementation of the Development Program.
  • Coordinates the dismissal of teaching staff to ensure control over the proper replacement of the head of research projects for their successful implementation.
Developing proposals for distribution of sponsorship and patronage aid, as well as maintaining document flow (task): Prepare and submit proposals for the distribution of monies received for the support of science, and ensure efficient office paperwork.Functions:
  • Participates in the development of a proposal for the distribution of funds received in the form of gifts, voluntary contributions, sponsorships, patronage, and profits from research projects.
  • Carries out accounting, systematization, and temporary storage of documents before their transfer to the University archive.
  • Timely and qualitatively fulfills the instructions of the immediate supervisor and the University management.
  • Observes the requirements of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and internal regulatory documents of the University.
QualificationsHigher-professional, preferable from the higher education institutions with English language of instruction. Priority specializations are: Natural Sciences, Medicine, Biology, Engineering, Social Science and Humanities.At least 7 years of professional experience in research administration at an institutional level or related fieldsAdditional InformationExperience in administration of research, evaluation and review of research grant proposals and reports;customer service abilities; ability to independently diagnose and solve problems using sound judgment and decision-making abilities; knowledge of Analytics tools (Expert LookUp or ReviewerFinder), Bibliometric tools (Scival, Scopus and Web of Science), Pure is preferable;knowledge of MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint; Associate Director for Sponsored Programs must have a thorough knowledge of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On the Status of Nazarbayev University, Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools, and Nazarbayev Fund”, as well as other legislative and regulatory acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of science.Recruitment and selection process
