Instrumentation and Control Engineer - ProjectDepartment Instrumentation and Control - ProjectReports to Instrumentation ManagerJob PurposeThe Instrumentation Engineer will support the planning, installation, and commissioning of Instrumentation and control systems during the construction of a sugar factory. The role involves detailed engineering review, site supervision, testing, and ensuring compliance with technical specifications, safety regulations, and project timelines.Area and Nature of ResponsibilityAssist in design review, installation supervision, testing, and commissioning of Instrumentation and Control systems.CommunicationCoordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal project teams. Utilization and AI.Core ValuesSafety, teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning.Responsibilities and AccountabilitiesDevelop detailed instrumentation designs, including P&ID reviews, instrument selection, and control system architecture.Prepare technical specifications, datasheets, and loop diagrams for instrumentation equipment such as sensors, transmitters, control valves, and analysers.Design and configure DCS, PLC, and SCADA systems to meet the operational needs of the sugar plant.Support the Instrumentation Project Manager in developing project plans, schedules, and resource allocation.Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to procure instrumentation equipment and ensure compliance with specifications.Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) to verify system performance.Oversee the installation of instrumentation and control systems, ensuring proper calibration and integration with plant processes.Conduct loop checks, system testing, and troubleshooting to ensure operational reliability.Assist in the commissioning of instrumentation systems and support the handover to the operations team.Provide technical expertise to resolve instrumentation-related issues during project execution and commissioning.Collaborate with process, electrical, and mechanical teams to ensure seamless system integration.Maintain accurate documentation, including as-built drawings, calibration records, and maintenance logs.Ensure all instrumentation systems comply with industry standards (e.g., ISA, IEC) and safety regulations.Participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and HAZOP studies to identify and mitigate risks.Implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for instrumentation maintenance and operation.Develop preventive maintenance schedules for instrumentation systems to ensure long-term reliability.Recommend spare parts inventory and standby equipment to minimize downtime.Prepare technical reports, progress updates, and documentation for project milestones.Maintain records of instrumentation system performance and recommend improvements.Oversee the installation of instrumentation and control systems, ensuring proper calibration and integration with plant processes.Conduct loop checks, system testing, and troubleshooting to ensure operational reliability.Assist in the commissioning of instrumentation systems and support the handover to the operations team.Provide technical expertise to resolve instrumentation-related issues during project execution and commissioning.Collaborate with process, electrical, and mechanical teams to ensure seamless system integration.Maintain accurate documentation, including as-built drawings, calibration records, and maintenance logs.Ensure all instrumentation systems comply with industry standards (e.g., ISA, IEC) and safety regulations.Participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and HAZOP studies to identify and mitigate risks.Implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for instrumentation maintenance and operation.Develop preventive maintenance schedules for instrumentation systems to ensure long-term reliability.Recommend spare parts inventory and standby equipment to minimize downtime.Prepare technical reports, progress updates, and documentation for project milestones.Maintain records of instrumentation system performance and recommend improvements.Success Measure / Indicator

QualificationEducation (Degree)RequiredEngineering in Instrumentation and control / Electrical / Electronic EngineeringProfessional Certifications – other than education degreeProfessional CertificationAdvanced field instruments and control system/PLC/DCS/Pneumatics and advanced calibration.Years of Experience3–5 years of experience in instrumentation and control systems, preferably in process industries such as sugar, oil & gas, or chemical plants.Desirable

Experience in sugar/refinery/food process plants or heavy industrial facilities.
Hands-on commissioning experience.

Internal relationshipsInstrumentation Manager, project engineers, civil/mechanical teams, Electrical, HSE team.External relationshipsContractors, consultants, equipment suppliers, and utility authorities.Competencies

Proficiency in DCS, PLC, and SCADA systems, with hands-on experience in configuration and troubleshooting.
Knowledge of field instruments (e.g., flow meters, pressure transmitters, level sensors) and control valves.
Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., ISA, IEC) and safety protocols.

Essential skillsProficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and Instrument calibration tools. * Familiarity with IEC standards.

Site supervision and testing experience.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Strong safety awareness.

The Kazakhstan Sugar Project involves setting up a large-scale sugar processing factory, namely the Qazaq Arab Sugar, in the Almaty region of Kazakhstan.The sugar factory is expected to produce white sugar as the primary product, with pulp and molasses as secondary ones.This new sugar factory will aim to cater to the domestic sugar demand of 600k MT, thus enabling the substitution of imports and reducing Kazakhstan’s import bill. In-addition the Project provides the opportunity of exporting surplus production to neighboring CIS countries and other Asian regions.
