Job DescriptionWho will you be working with?You will be part of the Sourcing & Quality organization within Wabtec, collaborating closely with global Supplier Quality Engineers, Sourcing teams, Quality Leaders, Product Quality teams, and Engineering stakeholders. The environment is highly cross-functional, supporting the growth and operational excellence of the Lokomotiv Kurastyru Zauyty (LKZ) plant and the broader EMEA region.How will you make a difference?As a key member of the Supplier Quality group, you will be responsible for driving supplier-related quality excellence across direct materials and services for the LKZ facility. Your work will ensure compliant, capable, and reliable suppliers while supporting cost, quality, and delivery improvements across the business.
You will lead implementation of the global Wabtec supplier quality strategy, guide new supplier and component qualifications, drive rigorous problem-solving, and strengthen supplier performance through audits, PPAP, and continuous improvement initiatives. Your efforts will have a direct impact on product quality at customer sites across Kazakhstan and the EMEA region.What do we want to know about you?:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Production, or Electrical Engineering
  • 4-7 years of experience in Supplier Quality, Manufacturing, or a related engineering discipline (less experience may be considered with role adjustment)
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing, control, and inspection technologies in at least two areas:
  • Machining
  • Fabrication (light to heavy steel welding)
  • Non-metallic products (FRP, composites, plastics, rubber, hoses)
  • Locomotive electrical systems (HVAC, fire suppression, safety systems)
  • Proven experience with quality tools and methodologies (FMEA, GR&R, Control Plans, Sampling, Capability Studies, DMAIC, etc.)
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Strong spoken and written English
  • Demonstrated project management and continuous improvement capability
  • High proficiency in PC and data management tools
  • Legal authorization to work in Kazakhstan is required.
  • English Proficiency is must
Desired Characteristics:
  • Prior work experience in a similar industrial environment
  • Knowledge of destructive & non-destructive testing methods
  • Relevant certifications (quality systems, technology, audits, testing)
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred
  • Ability to handle multiple complex situations daily
What will your typical day look like?
  • Implement the global Wabtec Supplier Quality strategy at the LKZ plant
  • Manage and continuously improve direct materials ordering process controls, including the approved supplier list and NCMR tracking
  • Lead on-time qualification of new components and services through the Wabtec PPAP process
  • Conduct periodic supplier process, product, and systems audits; issue reports; and drive closure of corrective actions
  • Monitor supplier defect/SDR/feedback trends and lead rigorous root-cause analysis using DMAIC
  • Support Product Quality teams across Kazakhstan and the EMEA region, ensuring supplier accountability for corrective actions
  • Identify, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers to support growth initiatives
  • Partner with Sourcing and Engineering teams on supplier changes, new product introductions, and risk mitigation
  • Participate in planning, training, and knowledge-sharing activities within the Supplier Quality team
