Details:Mission and objectives:With 174 member states, a further 8 states holding observer status and offices in over 100 countries, IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.IOM works to help ensure the orderly and humane management of migration to promote international cooperation on migration issues, to assist in the search for practical solutions to migration problems and to provide humanitarian assistance to migrants in need, including refugees and internally displaced people.The IOM Constitution recognizes the link between migration and economic, social and cultural development, as well as to the right of freedom of movement.IOM works in the four broad areas of migration management:Migration and development
Facilitating migration
Regulating migration
Forced migration.
IOM activities that cut across these areas include the promotion of international migration law, policy debate and guidance, protection of migrants' rights, migration health and the gender dimension of migration.The International Organization for Migration (IOM) established its operations in Kazakhstan in 2 December 2002. As the Country Office with Coordinating Functions for Central Asia, the IOM mission in Kazakhstan helps to address specific sub-regional migration issues and emerging trends, establishing priorities for project development and resource mobilization, and stimulating, directing and supporting project development in the country offices in the context of sub-regional strategies, policies and consultative processes.Context:Record and produce a one training video including series of short, training videos for:- Introduction to the enumerator’s role and responsibilities
- Understanding of survey tool and data entry to kobo
- Principles of ethical interviewing, informed consent, and confidentiality
- Key communication skills and interview techniques
- Explanation and correct usage of essential migration-related terms
- Structure and phrasing of critical questions for migrants and key informants
- Handling sensitive topics and common field challenges
- Photo taking techniques, migrant story collectionTask type:Art and DesignTask description:The Online Volunteer will support IOM’s MTM sub-regional international and national team to develop high-quality training video content. The key tasks include:a. Preparatory Work- Review existing IOM data collection tools, questionnaires, training manuals and terminology and other IOM guidelines.
- Conduct consultations with IOM staff to understand the structure, tone and objectives of the training content.b. Content Design and ScriptingDevelop a detailed storyboard and script covering all training modules, including:
- Introduction to the enumerator’s role and responsibilities.
- Principles of ethical interviewing, informed consent, and confidentiality.
- Key communication skills and interview techniques.
- Explanation and correct usage of essential migration-related terms.
- Structure and phrasing of critical questions for migrants and key informants.
- Handling sensitive topics and common field challenges.
- Photo taking techniques, migrant story collection.c. Video Production- Record and produce a series of short, high-quality training videos (5–10 minutes each).
- Use a combination of narration, animation, visuals and scenario-based demonstrations.
- Ensure that content is culturally sensitive, engaging and accessible for diverse audiences.
- Add subtitles in English and Russian (and Kazakh, if requested).d. Review and Finalization- Present draft versions of the video content for IOM’s review and feedback.
- Revise and finalize videos based on comments.
- Deliver final versions in suitable formats for online platforms and offline training sessions.Requirements:Experience and/or skills requireda. Education: - Minimum high school or bachelor in Information/Communication management - Other formal education relevant for this assignment;
b. Experience: - Well knowledged about necessary applications such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Blender, Toon Boom Harmony, Animaker, Vyond, Canva or equivalent software to ensure high-quality production.
- Knowledge and understanding of the relationship between migration and development;
- Experience in working with international organizations and UN (United Nations) agencies, an advantage;
c. Diversity: - Adheres to the core values of the United Nations; in particular, is respectful of differences of culture, gender, religion, ethnicity, nationality, language, age, etc.
d. Language: -Oral and written (working knowledge) in Russian and English is required. Kazakh language is an asset.Work Hours: 11 - 15 hours per week
