We are looking for a highly skilled Lead Engineer – Irrigation to join our team for a major agricultural project in Kazakhstan. The role will focus on the design, development, and execution of advanced irrigation infrastructure—including canals, drip systems, and pivot irrigation—for large-scale sugar beet cultivation.Key Responsibilities:Design and implement irrigation systems (canals, drip, pivot) tailored to crop and soil requirements.Prepare comprehensive irrigation plans, including layouts, hydraulic calculations, and equipment specifications.Conduct site assessments: soil analysis, water source evaluation, topographical survey, and climate considerations.Select and specify pumps, valves, filters, pipes, and controllers.Develop technical drawings, construction plans, and guidelines using CAD and irrigation design software (AutoCAD, Irricad).Manage the full irrigation project lifecycle—from feasibility and design to construction oversight and commissioning.Supervise construction, installation, and commissioning, ensuring compliance with technical, environmental, and safety standards.Coordinate with government bodies, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders.Monitor system performance post-installation and recommend improvements or upgrades.Qualifications & Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering, Irrigation Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).8–12 years of experience in large-scale irrigation infrastructure projects.Proven expertise in irrigation canals, drip, and pivot systems.Strong knowledge of hydraulics, soil-water-crop interactions, and water resource management.Proficiency with irrigation design software, GIS tools, and remote sensing technologies.Solid understanding of project management, budgeting, and scheduling.Competencies:Managing projects, problems, and solutionsManaging external partners and stakeholdersReports, analytics, and innovationAdvanced irrigation system design & engineeringSoil-plant-water relationship expertisePrecision agriculture tools and irrigation schedulingThis is a unique opportunity to lead the irrigation design and delivery for a large-scale agro-industrial project, driving innovation and efficiency in agricultural water management.If you are an irrigation engineering professional with proven expertise in large-scale projects, we encourage you to apply.The Kazakhstan Sugar Project involves setting up a large-scale sugar processing factory, namely the Qazaq Arab Sugar, in the Almaty region of Kazakhstan.The sugar factory is expected to produce white sugar as the primary product, with pulp and molasses as secondary ones.This new sugar factory will aim to cater to the domestic sugar demand of 600k MT, thus enabling the substitution of imports and reducing Kazakhstan’s import bill. In-addition the Project provides the opportunity of exporting surplus production to neighboring CIS countries and other Asian regions.
