- manage delivery of teaching and assessment across two credit bearing EAP language modules between November to December in the Foundation Year of our four-year degree programme;
- arrange/provide cover for absent tutors;
- mentor and support tutors, prioritising those who are new to the programme;
- provide solutions to tutors queries regarding appropriate teaching resources and supporting co-ordinator to resolve issues;
- day-to-day support, where necessary, to include dealing with student queries, and/or redirecting their query to the appropriate point of contact;
- allocate and review of teaching resources;
- ensure the flow of information from teachers to the admin support office and co-ordinator: e.g. attendance, submission of results, student reports;
- checking, in terms of appropriate content, student tutorial forms and teacher projections;
- Work closely with other co-ordinators in preparation and distribution of confidential module assessment materials to all teachers (hard copy and e-copy), to include class copies, marking schemes etc;
- observe teachers prioritising those who are new to the programme – providing written and verbal feedback and advice on fulfilling course objectives;
- Act as a point of contact for both academic and pastoral student queries, signposting and referring students to relevant advice and support services. This may be in the capacity of a formal Personal Tutor, or as member of a module delivery team;
- Develop and deliver training.
- To actively engage with all pre-course preparation and induction activities;
- To use the specified course scheme of work to prepare and teach appropriate material for lessons;
- To select / create supplementary materials as appropriate, according to the needs of the students and in accordance with the syllabus, assessment fit, course aims and mode of delivery;
- To maintain appropriate teaching and admin records for the specified programme: e.g. keep electronic lesson-by-lesson register of class work up to date and record accurate daily attendance; and produce mid-course and end-course reports of a required standard and to a set deadline;
- To participate in the administration and marking of any coursework, formative and summative assessments, (including participating in standardisation sessions), mark student assignments / homework as required and in accordance with the assessment schedule and deadlines, set criteria and marking schemes;
- To provide and record, on appropriate online forms and in a timely fashion, detailed formative feedback for both tutor and student reference;
- To work closely with other tutors/ colleagues in the team to ensure that students have the best possible learning environment and experience and to collaborate in sharing and pooling of their resources;
- To participate in online weekly briefings and any training sessions;
- To maintain course email/Teams contact and respond promptly;
- Willingness to engage in both peer and formal evaluative observations;
- To complete, on an on-going basis, a tutor feedback form and return prior to departure at the end of the course;
- Perform other duties occasionally which are not included above, but which will be consistent with the role.
