Through our people, leadership development, services, technology and scale, Wabtec delivers better outcomes for global customers by speaking the language of industry.Job DescriptionWho will you be working with?You will be part of the Direct Sourcing team within the regional Supply Chain organization, collaborating closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, and key cross-functional stakeholders. The team works together to optimize sourcing strategies, strengthen supplier partnerships, and ensure reliable delivery of goods and services that support our locomotive manufacturing operations. You will interact regularly with internal teams and external suppliers to drive sourcing excellence across the region.How will you make a difference?As a member of the Direct Sourcing organization, you will be responsible for leading and managing sourcing activities for assigned goods and services, ensuring that suppliers meet the organization's expectations on cost, quality, delivery, risk, and compliance.
You will develop and execute regional sourcing strategies, drive cost-out initiatives, and negotiate commercial agreements that support operational and financial targets. Your role directly contributes to improved supplier performance, optimized spend, and increased operational efficiency.
In this position, you will partner with Engineering and Manufacturing to identify new value-creation opportunities, manage supplier performance through KPIs, and lead initiatives that reduce locomotive cost. You will also ensure adherence to sourcing policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.What do we want to know about you?
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, or Business
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in supply chain, sourcing, procurement, materials, or operations
  • Demonstrated expertise in contract negotiation, supplier management, and strategic sourcing execution
  • Proven financial, quantitative, and data-analysis skills
  • Strong project management and process-improvement experience
  • Fluent English (oral and written)
  • Legal authorization to work in Kazakhstan is required.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work across diverse, international, and cross-functional environments
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%
  • Understanding of locomotive manufacturing processes is an advantage
  • Familiarity with IT sourcing systems, ERP tools (Oracle, Hicx), and Microsoft Office applications
What will your typical day look like?
  • Develop and deploy sourcing strategies for assigned commodities or business units to meet cost, quality, and delivery goals
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers based on capability, reliability, compliance, and strategic fit
  • Lead commercial negotiations including contracts, pricing, payment terms, and cost-out commitments
  • Monitor supplier performance using KPIs and scorecards across delivery, cost, quality, and risk
  • Draft, review, and finalize contracts; manage ERP entries and vendor master data
  • Build and execute the cost-out project pipeline, ensuring on-time delivery of savings initiatives
  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to identify and execute cost-saving opportunities
  • Drive supplier performance improvements in cash, deflation, on-time delivery, and quality
  • Identify value-adding opportunities within the supply base and broader supply chain
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, ethical sourcing standards, and legal requirements
  • Analyze market trends, spend data, and supplier performance; maintain dashboards and reporting metrics
