Job Category: EngineeringJob Description:Wood (trading locally as WOOD KSS LLP) is currently recruiting for Environmental SME Consultant (KZ passport holders) with extensive experience in environmental compliance or auditing within the oil and gas industry.Responsibilities:
  • To conduct an independent Environmental Assessment of the Refinery to identify material environmental risks, compliance gaps, liabilities, and improvement opportunities
  • To perform a site survey and inspections, followed by the development of a comprehensive Due Diligence Environmental Report
  • Review available environmental documentation provided by the client (permits, monitoring data, previous audits, incident history, compliance reports, emissions records)
  • Prepare a detailed site visit plan and inspection checklist aligned with: Kazakhstan environmental regulations, Local emissions standards, International good practice (IFC, ISO 14001, EU industrial emissions guidelines)
  • Review refinery emissions sources (stacks, flaring system, boilers, heaters)
  • Inspect wastewater treatment units
  • Assess potential historical contamination areas
  • Review waste handling, segregation, transport, and disposal practices
  • Assess site impact on surrounding ecosystems
  • Review refinery EMS maturity (ISO 14001 or equivalent)
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 10 years in refinery environmental compliance or auditing
  • Experience with oil & gas environmental standards (IFC, ISO 14001, IEMA, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience with Kazakhstan or CIS environmental regulations (preferred)
